Default Gen IV 5.3l Silverado turbo kit questions

Hello all. I've been looking at KB Racings' and Trick Performance's turbo kits for a Silverado Gen IV 5.3l. Here is a link to Trick's kit. Stage 2 GM turbo kit.

Using this kit for an example my questions are:

1. Would I HAVE to get forged rods/pistons? Gets costly. Would it require me getting head studs, gaskets, etc?
2. What about injectors/fuel pump/tune? What goes on there?
3. Would someone experienced with this type of truck/engine combo give me a rough list of the absolutely necessary parts that would be needed in order for the truck to be reliable and daily driven?

I've been researching but can't quite figure out what all I need to make it work.. I want to keep the whole build (between the engine and turbo kit) under 4.5k if it's possible... don't need to have any more than 500 HP. I just want a reliable turbocharged 5.3l that doesn't break the bank.

No you dont need forged anything for your goals... U shouldnt have to get inside the crankcase or take the heads off...injectors 60# or larger
Fuel pump at least a walbro 255 or an aeromotive 340...injectors are gonna be bout $300ish pump should be less than 200 ....
this is what i have in my build on a stock 4.8 with ls6 cam
Bw s366-$600
Turbosmart compgate 40-$300
Intercooler and pipe kit-$150 ebay
Bout $250 worth exhaust pipe
Gt500(ya ford ****!) 57# per hr injectors
Custom hp tuners sd tune $550
Afr gauge and o2 sensor $200 or so
... Im sure i got more than that in it but those are the basics...#1 advice i can give you- dont cheap out on things like wiring wastegates bovs turbos
They always say buy once cry once... One more thing... Mines not a kit so it might be more$$$

Okay, I have just heard some people say the stock internals wont hold up and then I have also heard about gapping the piston rings?? Something that I really wouldn't want to do ha! Thanks for the info, anything helps!

Is your truck a flex fuel? Also I've made 478Hp/505TQ on 8-9psi on 91 octane, with a bone stock genIV 5.3 in my 07 Tahoe.... That also has the shitty Active Fuel Managment junk.. Just a Spike performance turbo Kit, injectors, and tune. I kept my whole build below 4,700 and that's with all top name/brand components. Made over 500HP on 10psi, but tuned it down some, so the tranny would hold up for a bit.

Nope, I believe flex fuel started in 2010? Its a 2008. Thanks for the info! Is EFI live, blackbear, or just a dyno tune going to be my best bet?

Mines a 07 flex fuel, and I think the whole FF thing started I the early 2000's.

I was curious, because with the FF trucks the fuel system is golden for the 500HP range.

A custom dyno tune for sure! And I would recommend staying with a MAF tune for what you're trying to do... Just go with a LS3/7 style MAF.

Blackrat, its a 2008 5.3L with 113,000 miles. So basically you guys are saying with that setup and a mild tune I shouldnt have to do anything internally to the engine? Will it be reliable if I dont?
