Default XD/XDm triggers

Looking to mod my XDm 3.8C .40 a little. Mainly wanting to do sights and trigger right now. I've looked some at the drop in DIY units but have also had bad experiences with some of that stuff. I don't mind taking it to the gunsmith to hae the work done. I won't be competition shooting with this thing but I would like less travel, faster reset and an over all lighter squeeze.

Looking at some type of FO sight as well. Trijicon makes some I believe but I know there's others out there.... Also found a guy who does custom coatings. I have the OD green frame and stainless slide and was considering getting the slide done in his dark titanium which is a flat coating and would darken the whole thing up some, I think it would look great... Wanna get it shooting better first though.

I know lots of us have these things. Anyone else done work to theirs?

Bar none best sights out there are the truglo TFOs. Look up powder river precision for trigger and action goodies. Ive installed some on other guys guns and the trigger makes a huge difference. Pre and post travel is greatly reduced as well as weight.

I've been on PRP's site, looks like good stuff but know nothing about them. I'll have to do some checking around. Not the first time I've heard their name mentioned with good review though. Thats a plus. I know Jonathan said he had a trigger in his XD but I cant remember what he had, said he loved it though.

This is the guy that does the coatings. I found it while digging around for stuff for my new shield. I sure do love the stripped slide on the shield but prefer the dark colors for CC.

I could do my Shield in black/green and my XDm in green/black

PRP even has youtube videos for install so you can do it yourself. Main thing ks having some good punches and small screwdrivers along with a good hook scratch awl for grabbing the end of the springs. Ive just never done any to my pistols as I might have to use one as defense one day and ive read stories of attorneys eating that crap up in civil suits because you used a modified killing machine blah blah blah. When I get some pistols for range play I'll do the prp mods with a tungsten guide rod. Really helps with the short barrel snappyness.

I've heard the same thing but I'd rather be alive to go to court.

I wouldnt mod any of my firearms to be more efficient at killing someone... shooting is a sport to me just like football or table tennis LOL. To me it wouldnt be any different than a basketball player buying some high-speed shoes to make him jump higher. Gun parts just help me shoot better.

I have to disagree on the truglows
Has two sets and both sets, the front fiber optic tube popped out. Trigicon HD night sight IMHO. Big orange dot picks up very fast and they work great at night

Springer makes a great trigger kit. I have one in my XD .45 tac. Worth every penny

A lighter trigger isnt going to save your life, just giving you fair warning that there is precident out there of people getting sued for modified guns. If a burglar can win for getting hurt breaking into your house imagine what this Fd up legal system can do with you modifying your "killing machine".

How old were your truglos? And were they the TFOs? Theyve since change the way the fiber optic is held into the sight in the last couple of years. Theyve got great reviews everywhere Ive read and really like them. Ill be going with them for my guns.

Just a year ago. The first set came with the gun. They lasted 600 rounds, I really liked them so I replaced them with another set. They lasted roughly 1,000 rounds. After that I was done with them. Replaced with the HDs and haven't looked back. I really like the one big dot setup. Different strokes for different folks.

As far as the trigger job and legal matter, down south is isn't really an issue. People say the same with reloads, but no such case has ever been won, at least not that iv heard

I'm not concerned with the legality of the trigger... if that becomes an issue later on down the road because someone wanted to do harm to my family, I'll deal with it then. I take my guns to the range and shoot with them, a lot... more than most realize I'm sure. Any modification I do will be to better their efficiency at putting holes in paper. nothing more. I understand what youre saying Cody, and I well know that having some hopped up trigger isnt going to mean the difference in life and death. Hell, I carried a HUGE POS Beretta M9 in combat, I know all too well I feel like I am just as likely to use my 10/22 or that modded Browning A5 or my Winchester 61 Pump .22 to ward off a potential attack as I am any of my guns... can they say the same thing if I pick up my scoped Rem 700 .270 and take an intruder's life?? The gun didnt come with a scope, I put it on... I actually use it to "kill things" too... Just playing devils advocate here man. If people got way wrapped up about the legality of gun modding I dont think there'd be as many accessories for AR's as there are.

as far as the sights, I got to look at my uncle's XD with these on it tonight. I really like them and from what I Can tell are getting far better comments online than pretty much all the others. I am not buying them because of that though, I'm picking them up because the gun I held (very similar to my own) with these sights naturally pointed and was on target very quickly and easily. They seem to stay brighter longer than any other FO sight offered.
