Timing on cammed 6.0 and Shift points

new to hptuners and basically tuning..how must timing advance are most running on here...should i just keep turning it up in scan mode and see how high I can go without kr, then back it down a degree or two...second question is, if/when i do this, where do i go to make the permanent changes on the timing.
Also, my brothers SS has a somewhat small cam(218/222 ~560s) in it along with longtubes. The shift points were set at 5900, 5900 and 5850..I wanted to bump them up to around 6100, and see what happened. Is there anyway to do this while driving around in scan mode...When i do make these changes, like raising them to 6100, do i also need to change the mph the shift at, it would seem like i would have too because if i bump up the rpm, it seems like the other would need to change also.

At WOT BOTH the shift speed(mph) and the rpm you set have to be exceeded before it will shift. Most people are happy with there speed, but like to bump the shift points. XLR8NSS just did this with a stock SS and found that it didn't like the higher shift points. https://www.performancetrucks.net/fo...d.php?t=353065
Tuning your advance is (IMO) a little more trickier than just adjusting the in scan mode. Use the help file in HPT 2.0 to get an idea of where you need to go. Exploring the software before you get to crazy with changes.

Yeah thats what i was figuring. In scan mode you can just bump up the timing all across the board but from what i have seen, in the edit mode you have to do it on the large grid...I have found some files of some cammed 6litrs and 5.3s that i might use to work off of. From what i have noticed from these other files, i think we have 4-8 degrees advance that i can play with.
