My dealer said the same thing....got mine fixed for free.

my 05 with 90k has a bad oil pressure stepper motor. what exactly are the requirements to get it covered by gm?

Truck must be under 7 years old and under 70K miles. What exactly is your gauge doing? In some cases it could be the oil pressure sending unit. If you turn your key to the "on" position (without the truck being started) and the oil pressure goes to 80psi then its your sending unit.
