Missed out on a deal!!

I have been looking HARD for a 05-07 low mileage 4.8 for my truck. Kinda skidish to put 16psi on my 207,xxx mile motor without a backup ready to go. So I found an 07 4.8 w/ 44k miles asking $650 on ebay. Its in louisiana, i live in louisiana! I am currently offshore working nights so i didn't want to buy it and them require pickup or to be shipped before i get in on the 22nd(trying to save $200 shipping). So they open at 8AM. Well i get off tower at 6am and am staying up to call and make sure its ok for me to buy it now and wait till the 22nd to pick it up. I look at the listing at 7:15am and they accepted the best offer... WTF!!! I don't think i will ever find another deal like that. low miles, strong rod motor plus not pay shipping!!! Ahhhhhhhhh!!

"Ask the seller a question" on ebay and see if he has something like that. You just might be surprised. If it is a salvage yard he could have a few of them but not want to spend the listing fee. I bet a better deal than that shows up. And don't be too worried about mileage. You should at minimum be pulling the valve cover for a trunion upgrade and possibly valve springs and see what it looks like. I have a 6.0 with over 140 miles that looks like new and I have a 6.0 with 90K that was completely shot.

Yes, its a salvage yard. I already sent them a message. I know it depends on the care given to the engine. My engine has 207,xxx miles and counting. Never pulled the valves covers. Previous (original/only other) owner had service records of it being serviced EVERY 3,000 miles. doesnt burn oil, has proper power, & 23mpg. I just have plans to upgrade to a bigger snail and run 20-22 psi 93 oct/meth so forgive me if i'm a little paranoid lol. I've never pushed one as hard as I am about to. Also this is my first boosted ride soooo yea i might make a mistake that cost me the engine i have now lol. Plus im going to replace oil pump, timing chain set, lifter, etc when i do the cam swap. Hell i could have almost bought that engine for what im going to spend.

I agree, I'm just torn on what to do. Put cam/upgrade parts mentioned above with boost, or just boost the completely stock engine and get another one and do a "Mild" refresh/cam swap and then turn the boost up and swap that engine in when the stock one blows? I just have a hard time spending several hundred dollars on my engine when i came get the stronger rod engine for close to the same price as "freshening" up my engine. Plus i wouldnt have to tear down the engine thats already in it. I know, i know, stop over thinking it. lol
