Default Interface not found

Haven't used my HPT in a long time. The cable has been riding around in the seatback pocket for months, and the laptop has been worked on. Installed my headers and wanted to turn off the rear O2 sensors, and of course **** with the tuning. When I try to start up with a Read Entire, it tells me it can't find the interface. So I can't do anything. When I hook the cable up to my laptop, the Found New Hardware "bong BING" sound is just kind of a b-bong" , you know what I mean? I was trying to do the Read Entire with the key on, engine off, so I think I was doing everything right. Could my cable and MPVI be cooked from riding around in the pocket for so long? Is it my laptop? Any help would be appreciated, that SES light is annoying.

If you plug the HPT box into your OBDII and NOT the laptop, does the box show power?

If not, the Diagnostic port fuse might be blown.

Yep, lights up, fuse is good. I remembered popping that fuse a few times when I first started, and realized my radar detector and the wife's seat heater was plugged in and thought I had it figured out. But the fuse was good, so I'm quite befuddled.

the light on the mpvi box will be lite if it is getting power, the power could be coming from your laptop. so just plug the mpvi into the port and see if it has a light. Also I run across this from time to time. I usually dis connect the cable from the truck and the laptop, reboot the laptop and try again. That normally fixes it...

I've also had trouble once in a while if VCM Editor and VCM Scanner are both open.

Tried the cable just connected to the OBD II port, and it lights up. I'll try the reinstall tonight. Thanks.

Thanks guys! I SUCK wth computers, but I did it! I looked up how to install the drivers on the hptuners.com and figured it out. Turned off that f*kkin SES light, somehow, after the first try wouldn't even start the truck. Whatever, it worked. Rad.
