which ignition system for forced induction

I can go one of two ways, the traditional distributor, external coil, and plug wires method or LS style coil near plug. I've been told that the coil near plug setup has issues with keeping the spark voltage high enough to run a near stock plug gap under boost. On the other hand the coil and distributor setup for whatever reason carries a higher voltage and allows wider plug gaps when under boost. Can someone shed some light on this?

Dart little M 400 small block, AFR 210cc aluminum heads 64cc chambers, 18cc dish pistons for 10:1 compression, Borg Warner S480 96mm single turbo, intercooled, Edelbrock pro flo intake and ran with a 0411 PCM. I can either run it based on a 02 Chevy Express tune and use the vortec 350 distributor and plug wires and coil setup or using the EFI connection 24x reluctor and crank sensor and distributor/cam sensor be able to run it based on a LS tune with coil near plug. I would like to go coil near plug as there is no real acreage on the intake to mount a coil and the 02 6 liter tune will be much more boost friendly than the 02 Chevy Express tune.

I have that the rpm being pushed is the reason most guys go to distributers. For example shifting over 7500 i have herd most guys going to distributors. The standard PCM used on gen 3 motors maxes at 8000 and becomes unpredictable above 7500.
