WOW is all I can say. The TV is a 46" Samsung series 7 LCD 1080p.

Now I want to build a new PC to hook up to the TV. I need suggestions on what parts to go with though, been too long since I've built a PC. It'd be nice to play some games on the big screen.

Case/mobo/graphics/etc. need suggestions. Keep it under $1500? No monitor needed.

 

Isn't CHEVRACER our resident geek? How did you connect the laptop?

 

Just hooked it up with a monitor cable. TV has a connection on the back for it.

 

Parke10 knows computers very well, he can easily point you in the right direction.

 

You can also just use Svideo cable and have the laptop reconfigure your graphics settings for best picture.
I hook mine up to my sitsters 42" when I wana watch a movie Online. Then just use the audio output to plug into her stereo.

 

That would be a waste though. An S-Video cable can't carry high definition signals. There are quite a few computers offering HDMI outputs so you can transfer HD signals to your bigass monitors.

I have sold some pretty hot gamer computers lately. I can put one together, test and burn in for around $800. If you want to build it yourself send me a PM and I will look into things tomorrow and let you know what to go with.

I didn't have a serial cable. I'll get some pics next time I do it. Using Svideo on a HDTV isn't remotely the same as using it on a regular analog tv.

The quality was great except for the expected distortion in Icons. But that doesn't matter when your watching a movie. The movie was clear as a DVD.
