monoprice has the best prices from what I've seen.

 

if you run a 9800gx2 by nvidia it is a single card that is actually 2 cards together... it has a hdmi port on it....

taht is what you want 1080p straight off the card

they also make dvi to hdmi adapters

but the ingame performance from a gx2 is also awesome... minor microstutter problems but all in all game performance should be more than you could need

get an e8400 for about 160 a decent board for about 150-200

psu for 150

case figure 100

hdd probably 100 maybe more depending on what you want

ram 100 or so

 

Yeah, I picked up a Toshiba A305 a few months back and when I saw it had an HDMI out port on it I had to pick up a cable from best buy... I didn't want to pay their markup price, but I was impatient and wanted to see what it looked like on my 52" 1080p Sharp Aquos. Probably one of the coolest things I've seen in a while. It is a little weird though, looking at your TV and controlling everything from your laptop off to the side.

 

hook it up to the desk top and get a wireless keyboard and mouse.
im going to pick up the diablo game set.
