Im tired of my current setup, me and some people went 4 wheeling the other night and Ive decided on building my setup with that in mind nothing to drastic. I was really impressed with this trucks ability even with street tires, 3k stall and big cam it did well. I didnt have any dieing problems in 4lo

Ive still got the stock stall, thats going back in. Im thinking of a 2-3" lift just too fit some 36" tires like a set of nitto terra grapplers around 315/75 on a set of 18" M/T sim bead locks, maybe pocket fender flares.

1. Who has actually installed the ford keys to level the front? Did it work well? The part number I have from ford is xl325b328ca 97-03 F150 keys

2. Cam suggestions, this will be NA 5.3 Im keeping the heads with 10.5:1 SCR and bigger ferrea ls1 valves-unshrouding, 3.73 gears
want something with a noticable lope and power from 1000-5500.
205/210 .56x/.56x on a 112-110?

3. Im just doing coil spring spacers on top of the ford keys. Any other thoughts.

sounds like a plan. i actually like the looks of slightly lifted trucks now. you know no more than 6in. i think that comp cam 212/218 would do good in your truck or maybe something around the duration your talking about. locker, i'd say a good eaton...

 

36" is pretty big for only 2-3 inches of lift. You might rip up your fenders

 

If you want to run 36's you will need a 6" lift.
In a cam i would look to the 212/216 56x/56x 114lsa, You will want it to idle like a stock cam if you plan to do alot of off roading.
What are you going to use coil spring spacers? You should not have coil springs at all.
as already said a eaton locker is one of the best.
If you plan to run a open filter i would get some kind of sock to go over itto keep most of the dust off the filter. K&N used to have one for this reason. Do you plan to go into any water? I used to run my z71 thru some water that every now and then would cover up the headlights and i was running the stock box and every now and then i would get a little water in the bottom of it.

 

Your right about the coil spring spacers dont know what I was thinking Id like a little more than just 2" in the front the back is easy.

Im not worried about having to trim as I might put on fender flares that require it anyway.

They are right, that wont look really sexy with a 3" lift and 38" tires. 38's look good with 8"+ lifts. Here is what looks good, to me

With a 4" lift use 33" tires, maybe 35's
With a 6" lift use 35" tires, maybe 38's
With anything above 6" for sure use 38's

I have a 4" lift with 33" tires.

 

Its looking like just keys and 2" blocks or add aleaf in the rear. I think with some minor trimming I can fit 33" under it.

Anyone got anything to say on the ford keys. Ive seen leveling keys for our trucks but they are 5X the price of a ford key.

 

9GMC9 i like the look of your truck....that is what i am looking for just a little lift nothing major. do you like you lift kit? any regrets going with that particular lift? if you dont mind me asking what did that kit come with and what did it set you back?

 

Thanks man, the lift kit is awesome, a little squeaky but nothing a little lub can take care of. To tell you the truth, I bought the truck like that, a couple of days after they installed the lift kit. I really like it, the truck sits nice and with the tire/wheel combo its got sexy curves. Here is a link of the lift kit, its almost $1500 on this web site but I have seen this kit on the net somewhere for cheaper. I think this link gives you all the stuff the kit comes with.
