Can someone explain what the defference is between cranking your stock torsion bar key's all the way with the bolt and changing to a ford key? I don't see that defference.

 

Also has anybody had any problems with ball joints and what not? I call a 4X4 shop here in Houston and they told me that by me doing the torsion bar crank up that I would need a new front end ball joint ect... in like 3 month, but i think they just want me to buy a 6" lift and spend some cash there.

 

They are keyed different. The hex is rotated. i put some on my truck, but took them back off. With the ball joints, you are adding more angle to the front end componets, but you may get a few years out of them, or you may only get a few months. i know a lot of people (including myself) that had t-bars cranked up and never had ball joint problems.

 

I have the Ford T-bar keys on my Sierra and have had no problems with them or needing new Ball joints (so far). They have been on my truck for almost two years.

 

When you put them on did you leave the bolt at almost stock location or did you crank it all the way to get max lift?

 

if you crank the ford keys all the way up the front will end up higher by a good 2" than the rear plus it rides terrible. Dont ask me how I know this.

 

Well I put a 2" add-a-leaf in the back because I want to keep the stock stanz I just want the front end higher so it can realy look like a 4X4 & not a car. So your saying to put the bolt at stock location right?

 

i just put the ford keys in mine, & with the bolt in about the stock location It was sitting about 1.5 inches higher than with the stock keys. I tried maxing out the stock keys & it still wouldnt go high enough. Now with the ford keys its were I wanted it with alot more bolt left to go, if I wanted to crank it higher.

 

Well I put the ford keys in yesterday and left the bolt at the stock location it gave me 2" and the truck rides way better. Thanx everyone for all the info. I love the ride now.
