What's up folks, apologies up front if I post wrong, first time member of ANY kind of forum. Living in lower Alabama and just bought a 2018 Sierra crew cab 2wd w/factory 20", I ordered a McGaughys 3/5-4/6 drop kit "#34270" from Summit and am hearing conflicting opinions on c-notching for a 4/6 drop. I called McGaughy tech and he said if I go 6" in the rear I will need it. Good looks and good ride are important to me. Thanks, Barr

 

It should not require a C-notch.

You will have to chop off the factory bump stop mount though and that gives you the extra 2-3 inches that you need when going to a 6in drop.

I think you can do as low as 7in without a c-notch. Some helper bags would not be a bad idea if you go 6in in the rear and you tow/haul stuff around.

 

I won' be towing or hauling anything, just didn't' want to bottom out on bumps. How low before I really make an impact on my ride quality? Truck will be rolling on 22's w/ Michelin premier 285/45

 

The 22's will make it worse right off the bat because the lack of sidewall hurts ride quality compared to like a factory set of 18's.

I ran a 2/4 drop on my old truck and a 1.5/3in right now on my current truck and both rode close to factory. Going to a 4/6 will reduce it some but you can use really nice shocks or coilovers to make it much better.

Your opinion and my opinion on ride quality may differ too.

 

I'd like as close a stock ride as possible, the kit I ordered is McGaughy #34270 which comes with thier premium shocks, the kit will do 2/4-3/5-4/6 and 5/7, I may start with the 4/6 stance and drive it a day or 2 just to feel it out. Haven't got the wheels yet, still have the stock 20's. Thanks for all your input "it has helped"

 

6" might be ok, This is 7" drop, you can see how often axle hits bump stop.
