Default Whipple - 2018 5.0 F150 vs. 2018 6.2 Sierra Denali

Im considering a 2018 5.0 F150 or 2018 6.2 Sierra Denali. Whatever I decide, a Whipple will follow. It appears the 5.0 F150 has much more potential than the 6.2 Sierra Denali.

Comments anyone?

I guess it depends on who you ask.

The GMC already has a 25hp and 60ft lb of torque advantage over the ford already. Add in the same amount of boost and in theory the GMC is going to make more power and torque just based on starting power and the displacement advantage.

Each platform has it's draw back but I can't really pick for you.

Yeah I'm definitely not a Ford guy but damn. The fact that you can get the Ford with Whipple and factory warranty and run 11's? Sure makes you rethink things if you plan to leave it somewhat stock for a good dd. There is a place for hot rod trucks for sure but I'm not one for endless mods I'd rather drive. If I really wanted to go fast I would be modding a car instead. Chevy probably can be modded more but out of the box? Probably the damn Ford lol.

So, with the Ford's, I believe they run a different compressor ratio, which is why they make more boost.

As in the GT500s, they use a different compressor ratio to achieve higher boost. If you go look at Whipple's site, you'll see different compressor ratio's for the heads.

Low vs High boost

The 5.0 in the mustang runs higher compression, the truck is like 9.x:1

Yea, the motor is cool and it makes power. But, it's in a Ford. That's enough to keep me away... Lol...

Why is the 5.0 making so much power? I've been out of the game for a while, but damn.

With the addition of a 10-rib belt conversion, Kooks headers, DeatschWerks injectors and a custom ID Motorsports calibration the F-150 put down 712 horsepower and 612 lb-ft of torque.

Anyone know what the real world performance difference is? I know peak numbers aren't everything, it's really the entire power curve.

What about longevity/reliability? The Ford has the new 10-speed trans...

I'll be honest a blown 5.0 is attractive to me as a daily too. They scream.

Does anyone know how well the rest of the drivetrain holds up? Are the 6 speeds stout?
