Spoolin's attempt to Spool...

Despite his Steller performance the motor started making noise on the last event. Hopefully for him its something simple like a bent push rod or a collapsed lifter. He was really enjoying the truck prior to this and it seemed to be running really well. At least He got a 1st place finish for all his efforts and we all had fun!!!

Truck made it through the Truckin event...barely. I turned the boost controller all the way down and used part throttle the whole day. Didn't cause it to misfire too badly but still bad enough. I don't think I used more than 50% throttle all day and not more than 2lbs of boost. Didn't broke the truck up so that's a plus.
Congrats to Chase for taking first place in the street class, unfortunetely at the expense of a motor and possibly a transmission but I'd bet he'd be the first to tell you he'd do it again of given the opportunity.
As for my truck, Reynaldo Joseph and Henry swapped out my PCM so it comes down to my harness...probably. I think I might of melted it at the mile somehow. Weird thing is the truck runs ok out of boost when cold, once it heats up it becomes a popping misfiring son-of-a-bitch. Might also be some sensors.

Joseph, my uncle is gonna hook me up with an Snap-on Ace that uses that scan tool you have. They travel the country and teach professionals how to use that tool, I'll let you know when but if your free I know you'd be interested in watching and asking the guy a few questions about it. Apparently it can go through my harness and let me know exactly what's going on with it.

Its not the tool But how you use it when your preforming the Diagnostics.
The 4 Channel Lab scope on this particular scan tool allows you to test out circuits and components to determine if there is a fault in the Wiring or the part. You can back probe sensors and determine if there functioning properly or if they are having intermittent issues. You can test them under load and simulate real world conditions to see if our issues are electrical or mechanical.
The down side is that its not cheap. Even though it can walk a beginner through How to test components you still need to understand how mechanical factors can affect those components.

You can go through the Harness with a basic meter and see if it has continuity. Its a mater of whether or not all the sensors are functioning properly as they heat up. Or if there is to much resistance some were in the harness. Any time you cut and splice a wire whether you use a connector or solder it it creates a point of resistance. The question becomes How much resistance and when it starts to cause negative affects. The other factor is heat... Heat cycles will make the wiring brittle over time. It can also affect your voltage readings.

Joseph had me pull the valve covers when I got to his house and I'm glad I did but we didn't find any broken springs or valve train issues in general
I also did a compression test on a couple of the cylinders but didn't do all of them for various reasons.
Joseph, I will let you know when and where I'm meeting this technician, my uncle was explaining to me how specialized that tool is and how few people can fully use it's abilities/capabilities.

What happened to Chase's?
