I think I'm done with this truck.
Couldn't figure out the misfire/studdering/backfire problem and it now does it all the time rather than just in boost. Doesn't even idle anymore. Just pops and spurts.
-Put new plugs in
-checked the wires with a voltmeter
-swapped out for a new set of coils
-pulled all the injectors and cleaned them
-scoped the hot side flex joints
-checked the hot and cold side piping.
And everything checks out ok. All wires and plugs are connections work. Even did a balance test and it came out inconclusive because every test indicated different cylinders as being problematic. Weird thing is the boost gauge fluctuates with every misfire/pop. It's referenced from the intake tube so there should be nothing effecting it in regards to misfires.
Anyways, might part the thing out and buy a mini cooper!

You are throwing in the towel because of a few issues!?! You can't expect to modify a vehicle to this level and have everything run smoothly out of the box. Are you sure all your grounds are good? Trust me once it's dialed it it will all be worth it.

Check grounds, camsensor, and crank sensor plugs, map sensor plug etc. Could be a bad sensor of some sort could be a bad o2 sensor.

i was having some random problems with my 6.0 swap cutting out and backfiring and such three weeks it took me looking and yesterday it cut out full lean and it took me checking injector wires to move the main harness and bump the main coil plug and what do you know idled and ran just fine. so might check the wiring and plugs to coils and injectors and such to make sure they are all connected good.

Truck made it through the Truckin event...barely. I turned the boost controller all the way down and used part throttle the whole day. Didn't cause it to misfire too badly but still bad enough. I don't think I used more than 50% throttle all day and not more than 2lbs of boost. Didn't broke the truck up so that's a plus.
Congrats to Chase for taking first place in the street class, unfortunetely at the expense of a motor and possibly a transmission but I'd bet he'd be the first to tell you he'd do it again of given the opportunity.
As for my truck, Reynaldo Joseph and Henry swapped out my PCM so it comes down to my harness...probably. I think I might of melted it at the mile somehow. Weird thing is the truck runs ok out of boost when cold, once it heats up it becomes a popping misfiring son-of-a-bitch. Might also be some sensors.

It's more than just a few issues Matt. I had problems for about 6 months and then finally got it running right in September/October and while I was out at sea I paid a shop to clean up the wiring and fix some misc stuff so it's more reliable and I got it back in worse shape than I gave it to them. It was the first shop I've been to in 4 years and I now remember why. I've dumped more than a few thousand extra dollars in a truck I was pretty much done with only to get it back in worse shape.
I'm gonna sit on it for a few weeks and decide later what exactly I want to do with this truck right now. Would like to come down and visit you this week or he following week, I'll let ya know.
