Default Preston129 Build thread - TVS1900, EPS cam and more

Hey guys, I've got this thread running on another forum that isn't getting too much traffic so I decided to start it over here, where I'm sure a few more ppl will find it useful and hopefully generate some discussions.

I'll update as often as I can, but for the next couple months not too many wrenches are gonna get turned; we're in the middle of winter so all I'm doing is buying parts, which I'll post up as they come in. Hope you guys enjoy.

I'll start off with some background on the truck:

The plan of attack for the spring is mostly engine work and some supporting hardware. I'll go into more detail about all the parts involved a bit later, but here are the goals I have in mind for this summer:

Engine
TVS1900
Blower cam and AFM delete
Tune

Exhaust
American Racing 1 7/8" long tube headers and catted y-pipe
Eventually fab up a 3.5 or 4" cat back but this can wait

Rear end
Detroit Truetrac

Suspension
Rear sway bar - Either DJM or Hellwig, not really a top priority for this summer
New rear shocks - Maybe belltech, again, not a priority

I'll post some pics and part numbers later when I get home.

Parts List

I'm going to keep this post to update the parts I've bought, or if I decide to change things, I'll use this as the master parts list.

I originally thought I was going to be building a N/A combo, so I started buying parts about a year ago for that goal in mind, then just recently I got lucky at work getting a few good contracts, then all of a sudden a blower combo sounded very attainable. So if you look through my parts list and think, "WTF, that's a terrible choice for a blower combo", I probably agree with you and all the parts I highlighted in blue are those I haven't yet purchased and are going into my blower build.

yeah you need 7.425" without milling your heads.
i run 7.4" on a milled .020" L92 head, even though i really need 7.405" but no one makes that size, so i went 7.4

the 7.35" will be too short.

keep up the good work buddy. also have the snout machined down for a smaller pulley just saying more Boost would be sweet

Nice build man, what are the specs on the EPS cams that you had before and have now?

Nice to have you on board man,

Ya I realize now the 7.35s are too short, wasn't thinking about the smaller base circle on the cam at the time. And since it's been a long *** time since I bought em I can't exchange, but I'll try to flip them when this build is over, should have a few more N/A parts for sale too.

And I guarantee I'll never pulley down any further than a 3.2 on this poor little 5.3...Think I'm getting a 3.5 pulley in the kit, and I'll see where I'm at with boost and fuel and go from there.

Thanks man, glad to have your expertise on board too.

The N/A one is 219/227 .595 .598 113+3. I haven't picked out the blower one yet, but I think it'll be around 215/231 .600 .604 117. Might tweak that a little and see where Geoff wants to put the valve events, but it's pretty much what I want to see in a FI cam for cathedral ports; wide split favoring the exhaust side and a big LSA to keep cylinder pressures high.
