what size spring did you put in your waste gate?

fwiw I went with the 1.5 and 3 lb spring to start and that made 5.5 psi on my setup

this would make it for a good starting point and then you can start adding pressure to the top of the waste gate via boostcontroller
I put the 6 lb spring in. So your saying I might get 8-9 lbs with the waste gate hooked up to the vacuum block?

I don't think it will effect in a negative way, but might change the characteristics of how it works and pressure it sees.

It is probably one of those things that get over analyzed, I've have never tried it so I don't know

With the 6 lb spring you really won't know til you put your foot into it

She is alive! Very happy with everything. I have a lot of under hood cleaning and tidying up to do but I'm glad it is running. I might get my boost gauge hooked up so I can take it for a drive today. I do need help setting up a spark table before I do that though. If you can help with that, check out my thread in the tuning section.

Is this from the oil not draining out of the turbo? I know its hard to tell in the vid, but it is smoking pretty bad.

If this is the first time you have run it since touching it then its just the grease from your hands burning off. You would see smoke out of the tailpipe if you had a drain problem.

I have always done first start ups with the drain hose in a jug so I can see the oil going through the turbo. I let it idle for a couple seconds with a constant pour. Half quart to a quart. Then turn the engine off and hook up the drain to the pan, re fill oil w new oil.

No hurry is no worry

K so I finally got into boost. The truck kept falling into REP as soon as the MAP would go above 100kpa. It was throwing a P1514 code so I found the table in engine diagnostics and maxed it out. This turbo is pretty "laggy" on this set up as expected but damn it screams up top. I only ran it up to 4800rpm

I'm having a problem where the scanner will only read and plot map values up to 105kpa. When the truck is in boost, the scanner will peg 105kpa..WTF. My histograms go up to 300kpa or so so I don't know what the problem is. And the truck stays pretty fat on fueling so I know it isn't getting fueling numbers from the 105KPA cell in the VE. Check out my log.

make sure you have the right map sensor in your primary table on the scanner

How do you select a different map sensor?

Edit: I think I figured it out. Even though the histogram shows 30kpa-320kpa, in the histo settings it showed the MAP plot points to be 20-105kpa. So I changed them to 3 bar values and I will give it a whirl tomorrow. Can't wait to see how much boost I'm making at the moment. The truck really felt good in boost
