I'm thrilled with my trans. It doesnt screw around WOT.
Yeah, he pushed pretty hard because there's a dude running it with the same setup I'm planning. Said he's made 50+ passes with it and has had no problems. I still believe my 80 is twice as strong as his built 65. Plus he would have made a lot more money since that lvl 7 is around 6500 without a core

650 and with the tax it would have been 7k. Mine ended up being 2900 for everything

Maybe closer to 6.5k. 1149 for the 6 pinion gears + 650 core + 150 shipping + 4 K for the trans

Anyway, I didn't want to spend that much on the 65 and have to wonder if it was going to break. Although I ended up spending right at 6.7k on this 80 swap after all the smoke cleared

Like I explained to you Randy, don't ever lock the converter @ WOT during the 2-3 shift and you should be fine with the stock input shaft. Even with the billet shaft you could tear up the next weakest link which is the OD planet splines. Locking the converter @ WOT (multi-disc only) is fine after you make the 2-3 shift for you guys that feel the need. The only thing you might gain is a couple mph if any, depending how efficient the converter.

Rob, I'm very confident with our 4L65E-7 unit as well. If I didn't have the R&D time to prove it's reliability then I wouldn't push it. My test vehicle is well known over @ the SilveradoSS.com forum and makes more power and gone faster than any of you guys in this thread. Will see how far we can push it this summer? Don't be surprised to see this truck run well into the 10's with our 4l65E-7 Don't get me wrong guys, I understand the whole concept here. I enjoy building 4L80E's too!

Yeah, you go Chuck! I'm liking your 80 much better since we got the tuning straightened out. In fact, I'm driving her right now!

We'll see who's fastest after I get done with mine! A little competition's good for business!!

Now were talking! Here's one in truck video from last summer to give you a little more incentive! lol. Listen for the converter locking up after the 3rd gear shift, that's what I was talking about earlier. What's really funny, his 17yr old kid is driving it for the first time and runs 11:53 on @ 11:50 dial and went to the final but lost! lol
