I put a pressure transducer on it so I was logging it. In general a normal valve body 80e will have 160-180psi in forward gears and around 250psi in reverse above 1000rpm.
This is the log of when it broke. You can see the input shaft speed doing some crazy stuff as well as the transmission pressure is bad to start with just tanks around the 53.5 second mark. Trans was slipping so bad the holley actually downshifted to 2nd before it commanded 3rd again.
Whats the latest on the truck? I saw your video with the tensioner, and you said other things to come. Did you have the trans fixed yet? How much power do you figure the truck was making when it broke? Is your newest engine an aftermarket block?
Truck is still there...im better at collecting parts than actually racing lol. Truck hasnt moved since November when I took the trans out. Got it back in January along with new torque converter and shifter to go full manual valve body. Had a baby in early March so that has consumed most of my time.
Engine in there now is a LSX block 427. The twin s369s on 30psi probably making the 1200-1300whp range.
For this next go around of stuff I have a much larger intercooler rated to 2500hp. Had to move the radiator much farther forward to use it and redid the mounting there. Smaller IC tank, but larger lines. Trans stuff as mentioned before. Have upgraded turbos waiting to go out, twin FIS S376/75s which should be good for 2000hp ish. Larger injectors if I need them in the box. Also going to get AC back in the truck using a miata condenser where I can fit it. Wont be as cold but will be better than nothing. Also going to an onboard air setup for boost control and shifting. I have the small viair compressor tank combo in a new cooler in the bed along with my intercooler tank so its all hidden.
Changed the fan shroud from a single 16" fan to dual 11" fans to have some redundancy and bit more airflow. Complete new trans cooler and lines. Upgraded idler support bracket and pitmar arm with kryptonite parts and also have the cognito brace on the idler arm (wont fit on the pitman arm).
Progress photo dump. Got it put back together for the race in a few days. We will see how it goes. So far no major issues, but ive only backed it out of the driveway for its annual bath. Trans pressure steady at 240psi so should be spicy.
Looks a little messy but this is better organized than it was. In retrospect I shouldve just taken out everything the previous guy did and started over but oh well. Air shifter solenoid is now on the front of the shifter compared to this picture. S369 vs S376
I really like these weld-on hose barbs from monkey fab
M&M shifter is nice
-20an intercooler fittings
New bed setup hidden in a cooler mounted to the bed this time. ~4gal water ice tank and onboard air for the shifter and wastegate solenoids.
