So what's needed to make a 80e last behind about 750whp in a 5400# truck? Will a stock 80e with shift kit be enough?

With a shift kit and proper tuning the 80e should handle 750whp no problem. The transmission is similar to running boost through an engine. Forged parts in the engine or a larger trans (80e) will buy you headroom, but if the engine detonates of the trans shifts too hard/soft they can both come apart. Just watch the 1-2 shift to make sure you do not have excessive pressure that can cause the sprag to roll over.

Yea, I can't wait. I'll probably do boost first, just keep it low while I get the 80e built. Just need to find a good core. All the ones I'm finding are shops that want 1500+ and a core. Or 94-95 models with 250k miles on em.

He's been having the 60E blues as well. 3-4 clutches just don't last long with a decent power-to-weight ratio. He's been asking me about the 80E conversion.

A few of the members here know that I've been considering changing my setup to run a turbo. Most likely start with a trick stage 3 and upgrade the turbo later down the road. And have the 4c restalled to about 3k.
Or I can keep the current setup and get a d1sc.
Both will cost about the same but will have less down time with the procharger. Mpg would be alittle easier but that's not that big of a deal to me. What is Yalls advice?

I am biased but I think with the setup you have right now a D1 would be ******* killer...

That 4k stall with a D1 and your gears would be brutal off the line

I agree. Turbos are sweet but the D1 would be much quicker to have set up as you already have the proper supporting mods.
