Default 2004 RCSB Z71 turbo build!

These builds seem to be quite popular over the last several years. I've wanted a turbo truck for awhile now. I picked this truck up yesterday for a pretty dang good price! If I had to guess the previous owner stuck the truck in a deep mud hole so insurance would pay it off. I'm pretty sure the motor is locked up but that's ok with me. It needs the interior gutted and a major detail but that's fine also.

I will be doing a 6L/4l80 combo of course. That's all I know for sure right now at least

My first question is can I use a 2wd 4l80 and modify it to work or is a 4wd one my better option?

Here's a pic of it as is still on the trailer!

A 2wd transmission will have to be completely taken apart to change the tailshaft for the 4wd iirc. I think you'll be better off finding a good 4wd transmission and putting a shift kit in it.

$2,500. Clear title also!

Only thing I don't like is the interior is tan instead of the charcoal.

Correct me if I'm wrong but will the transmission not have to be taken apart anyways to put the adapter for the transfer case?

You don't have to. You swap the input shaft on the transfer case for the 80e swap. Don't even have to crack the 80e open to do the swap iirc. You adapt the transfer case to the transmission. Not the other way around.

Nice project! And good price...I paid over 4x that for mine but very few 4wd rcsb in ca so I had to pay to play.

I just did the 80e swap myself and yes you'll need the 32 spline input shaft for the transfer case. Lots of threads on the forum about the 4wd 80e swap but let me know if you have any questions...I got done with mine a month ago (craigslist 85e out of a 2500 8.1L Suburban for $500) and I also did the transgo hd2 and circle d converter and it worked out real good!
