I just did the 80e swap myself and yes you'll need the 32 spline input shaft for the transfer case. Lots of threads on the forum about the 4wd 80e swap but let me know if you have any questions...I got done with mine a month ago (craigslist 85e out of a 2500 8.1L Suburban for $500) and I also did the transgo hd2 and circle d converter and it worked out real good!

Shoot me a PM with your number. I may have some questions in the coming weeks. It will keep me from having to dig through threads on here

Found this truck 10 minutes from my house. They guy is parting it out. Here's what I'm thinking I'll take off of it.

Engine/trans with all the wiring and ECM
Front drive shaft
Hydro boost
Transmission lines

Will I benifit from taking the wiring and ECM? Is there anything else off the truck I may need? This truck is a push button 4wd and mine has the floor shifter. I'm not swapping the transfer case so I didn't think that part would matter.

I can't see how the wiring or ecm would be needed, if you can get it for free then you can sell it. The only wiring you'll need for the 80e is a vss connector and 2 wires with ecm terminals at the end.

Can I not use all the wiring and ECM from the donor truck and be a plug and play type deal? Maybe I'm thinking wrong..

You could but why? Your current harness and ECM will do.

Possibly, but totally unecessary. That LQ4 is 24x as is your Z71 so every single sensor/ connector will be plug and play.

Plus if you use the 2500 ECM you'll have to have the VIN rewritten, all in all an unncessary hassle.

I figured the engine sensors we're all the same. I knew the big difference was the transmission. So it would still be easier just to make my transmission harness work?

I had also thought about taking the gauges from the donor 3/4 ton truck. Then I would have the trans temp.

You can do that as long as its from the same body style iirc. Trans temp will work by just plugging it in.

Picked up the engine/transmission on Monday. I also got the front drive shaft and gauges.

I'm assuming this drive shaft will work? Here's the part number on it.
