Default custom plate vs. buying a "smog intake"

I know below there is a plate vs. nozzel thread. Which i read, but it didnt answer one question i had and this is still different enough to warrant a new thread.

I'm planning to use a portion of my tax return to put nitrous on my chevy colorado. The problem is that there is no production nitrous plate available.

I contacted nitrous outlet awhile ago and it would run me mid 400s-just below 500$(plus sending out my TB and losing the use of my truck for a bit) to have a custom plate made.

On the otherhand, i can tap into the intake i have now, and buy a 2nd intake for smog time.(250ish for a 2nd intake.)

Is there enough of a difference in performance between a nozzle/plate to make me shell out the extra cash?

Not if your spraying under a 150 shot, you will be fine with a nozzle.

Agree youll be fine with a nozzle. To bad you dont have a extra TB to give them. I know people over at 355.net would love a plate system.

Its more or less the price that stops me. I have a work vehicle and an old jeep to get around if need be. It just seems like a waste to blow $450+ on a setup thats gonna be harder to swap for smog, more expensive and doesnt seem to offer any severe advantages over the nozzle/second intake.

Plus, that whole site can kiss my ***. The new owner is a giant douche.

75-100 shot tops on a wet kit. I had planned to go for something from the nitrous outlet, i don't really know what kit i need. I figured i would call them and get their take on it. I don't wanna cheap out on the kit itsself, because i dont wanna blow up my engine.

oh would they?? $4-500 is crazy. im a manufacturing engineer and making complex parts is my thing. 4-500 should be getting you a lot more then a flat plate with some angled holes in it. (need to find me a TB and make these!)

I would contact hsw and see what they could come up with if you are set on a plate... or just use a nozzle

You don't have to buy a smog intake... Run the nozzle under the intake tube and just plug it when you smog. For what you said the custom plate will run you, you can buy a brand x nozzle system from nitrous outlet and build on that kit.

what do you plug it with? a bolt or ?

I'm not really set on anything. I thought the plate would be the best way to go because of smog, but it seems like a nozzle might be easier. Plus if i ever blow up my engine and decide its time to step up to a V8 swap, then a nozzle is gonna be more cost effective.
