Default New guy with a new truck

Hey guys I am new to this site. I just got a 2004 Chevy Tahoe LT with the 5.3l Vortec and I am looking to modify this thing. I came from a 2004 Monte Carlo SS.

lol I am not new to modding...I have 6 grand under the hood in the monte. But Its not practical enough. What can I do to this 5.3 to wake it up?? I have never modded a V8 before, all I know is I can actually get a good sound out of this engine.

first up is a motor swap if you go very deep in to the modding you'll get it eventually anyways

a radix or sts is nice if you are going to stay with a 5.3

I am going to keep the 5.3 in the truck. I want to start off with some valve train and exhaust mods. I don't know about the vavle trains on these engines. What is the best cam and roller rocker ratio to run?

stock rockers are fine

depends on what you want (tq or hp) and how much stall converter you can handle driving(im guessing this is a daily driver

a TR220 or TR224 are common cams if you stay N/A

a gt2-3 or vinci trucker for supercharger

a z06 cam for turbos

TR 224 cam, comp 918 springs, comp 7.4 pushrods, headers, 3000 stall, 4.10 gears, custom dyno tune, k&n intake, ported throttle body oh and 100 shot of nitrous should get you goin anywhere you want just a little bit faster

i would go with a cam just a hair smaller because of the weight of a tahoe...maybe a 216/220 or tr220 on a 112lsa along with comp 918 springs and 7.4 pushrods and a 2800-3200 torque converter aughta get that pig moving. ofcorse youll need a custom tune to get the most benifit from those mods. then you can play with intake, longtubes, exhaust, gears, posi, blah blah blah. it all piles up after a while $$$$$$$$$$$$$
