08 5.3L issue after cam and tune
#1
I recently cammed my 5.3 and just got it back from the tuner and I'm not impressed... just need some advice if its just me or tuning issues as I don't know a whole lot when it comes to tuning or cams. I have a 08 5.3 that I just did a decent amount of motor work on. I got it back from the tuner and on the ride home I noticed it pushing thru the brakes pretty decently (which i heard is somewhat normal), Idle cranked up to about 900 or so and bounces to around 1200 in gear (so high it doesn't really lope just sounds like I'm holding it open), neutral automatically kicks the idle to 2k-3k so if I hop in N at a light I essentially neutral dump it. It also feels insanely sluggish compared to stock so I'm bummed. Dyno sheet says 298hp and 295ft-lbs. I'll be even more bummed if I just put all of this money and effort in just to make stock numbers and not so great drivability. Deal with it? Take it back? Could it be mechanical? Any insight would be much appreciated! Here's what I got done:
Howards Cams Rattler Camshafts 198035-09, 275/282, Lift .525/.525 109 LSA,
Delphi LS7 Lifters, LS2 trays, Speed engineering 1¾ long tubes,
Speed engineering Y Pipe, Full 3in Stainless exhaust w/ Borla atak,
BTR LS 7.400" Chromoly Pushrods - 5/16" Diameter, 080" Wall,
BTR.560" Lift LS6 Beehive Valve Springs w/Hat Seals,
4.56 Rear diff, 315/70r17 tires
Built trans, to my knowledge stock converter

298 at the wheels is more than stock.
That cam is a bit much for a 5.3 in a truck (if that's what it's in), especially with stock converter and gears, butt should be able to be tamed somewhat to idle decent, even if it will always still be real lazy down low. Definitely needs a better tune though.
