I was referring to the slight groove in the cylinder wall thats visible through the most worn parts of the wall.

This is a all a prime example of why everyone should just go turbo. You don't need big cubic inches to make big power and with a boost controller if you want more power, all you got to do is hit a button.

I understand what you were looking at, I thought the other guy was referring to the carbon ring

No, like half way down the cylinder there is what looks like a distinct line. (I'm on my cell)

It looks like the guy running the boring bar made an oops right there.

It wasnt my motor new... so I can't say what the ring is from or if it was there new. Notice that the worst wear is not at the bottom of the stroke though. Its about haldway when the rod starts to push the piston INTO the wall with much greater force than a stock stroke bottom end.
Hold up. Now you're telling us you don't really know anything about the history of that thing. Piece of **** was probably a 200k mile pullout, hit with a flexhone for 45 minutes on each hole, add 4" crank, run the **** out of it........whoops, that 4" **** don't work.

Last year when I was talking with engine builders, very large ones at that. They all concurred for reliability don't run a 4" in a stock block. If it's an LSX or Dart block it's a different story. Now if it's a drag motor then who gives a ****. I wish Callies would make more of the 3.825 stroke as it's a good happy medium for stock blocks.

I just went over to Callies website and didn't see any offerings in a 3.825". I did see their 3.900" which would also be a nice compromise.

One thing more to add though. Going from a 4" to a 3.900" only results in the piston coming out the bottom 0.050" 50 thousandths aint much.

It's hit and miss, they do different production runs. They have a 3.75 also.
