If your truck is only stalling to 2000 thats your problem. You need to get a restall. My truck was a dog down low when my old stall was only stalling up to 2500 with a 222/224 in my old 5.3. I was putting down 2.5 60fts then got that straightened out and put down 2.0 60s. You need to find out if you are having random misifre problems get hte truck scanned if it has a random misfire code then it is constantly locking and unlocking the verter and will cause a low stall speed. Also gears will help off the line which is where you are ahving your problem lt headers will help up top where your cam can take advantage of the added air flow. You need a bigger verter for the weight of your truck and that large of a cam. I ran a 3100 behind my 5.3 with the 222/224 and it needed another 2-300 rpm to realy work perfect. Now that same stall hits 3900 with the new motor

I am leaning to my problem being a tuning issue because after every new tune it stalls higher because it is making more power down low. Wouldn't a misfire throw a check engine light or something? I would love to open the engine up but what if the dots are lined up and then I would have to pay. If nelson can't do my dyno tune pretty soon I will probably open the front cover and check it myself. It shouldn't be that hard since I don't have to remove the cam right?

Right, it isn't very hard at all. If I didn't have to work all the time I would do it for you but you shouldn't have any problems doing it yourself.

You need to get to Allen to get it tuned up perect. Mine ran pretty good with just his mail order tune then it ran like a scalded ape when he street tuned it.

most people charge 500-600 for the whole csm install so sounds like this guy would just be trying to rape you for questioning his install. if things change everytime you get it tuned youre right, sounds like thats where the problem lies. best of luck and at least you are seeing continued improvment, thats a plus i guess even though its still not good

I'm going to have to make my vote for the cam being off a tooth or some other issue related to the cam/springs install. Yes the retuning is helping but it's still way way off from the performance level it should be at. It's slower than stock. This is not a headers or converter issue. Even if the tune is just in the ballpark, which it should be by now, he should be seeing significant gains over his old times with that cam.

I live here in Odessa. I have a computer that we can try and see if there is any difference. It is tuned for a little smaller cam, but it should work. I could also take a look and see if the cam is installed right. Send PM if interested

i woudl say try and get ALL the tuning issue worked out before you take it back to that guy for your $600 gamble unless you can remove the cover and all that to check yourself.

If the cam isnt installed correctly your never going to be able to get the tuning correct.
