LS7 Crank in a LQ4 Block
Anyone here know if a ls7 crank will work in a lq4 block?? Would the ls7 crank being a dry sump crank work in a wet sump block?? Also the reluctor wheel of the ls7 is 54 I believe, and not sure what it is in the lq4. If they are different, can you change the reluctor wheels?? This will be going in a 06 Silverado. Thanks for any help.

Info from GM on installing the LS7 crankshaft in wetsump applications are as follows:
* Use the standard LS-engine crankshaft gear, P/N 12556582
* Use the standard LS-engine oil pump, P/N 17801830
* Use the standard LS2 timing cover, P/N 12600325
With those parts, a 1" spacer can be used in front of the LS7 balancer to make up the difference between the two crankshaft gears (using the LS7 balancer bolt), OR the crankshaft snout can be machined to reduce it's length by approximately 1" (using the LS2-type balancer bolt).
The LS7 crank comes with a 58X tooth reluctor wheel installed and you could either have a 24X tooth reluctor wheel installed before you install the crankshaft or use the converter box from Lingenfelter.
Of course if your having machine work performed to shorten the crank snout, you might as well have the correct reluctor wheel for your application installed.
Also of course, you would need to substitute a truck balancer into the instructions from GM, as the Vette balancers will not line up with your accessories.
