LQ4 Flex plate spacer?

LQ4 Flex plate spacer?
I picked up a 2005 2500HD with a broken flex plate. It's not just cracked, it's completely broken around where the crank bolts to it.
This flex plate did not have a spacer on it. This is defiantly a Gen IV 2005 LQ4 with the newer head bolts and LQ9 rods. Did any of the LQ4s with the 4L80E not get a spacer or did some clown forget to put it back in?
The bellhousing was defiantly separated on this truck before so I don't know who did what to it but the flex plate is ruined, the bolts loosened up and it broke apart.

That crossed my mind. I can't possibly see the torque converter sitting .4" forward without stripping the splines off the front pump on the trans. But I didn't check for play before removing the motor.
Does anybody know how long a late style crank is vs the earlier style so I can measure it?

Looking at pictures it looks like the crank is about flush with the outer most part of the rear cover (the area directly around the seal). It defiantly isn't almost half an inch out. I'd say it sits approximately where a crank in a small block sits.
So I guess this answers my question and explains why the flex plate blew apart. I'm just very shocked it the splines in the converter didn't chew up the splines on the front pump!
