Default Lower spring locators?

I have Lunati dual .660 springs that I installed in a set of heads with the new valve seals. I am taking the springs off to install on a different set of heads and selling the heads with the stock springs. Is it ok to leave the locators with the heads so I don't destroy the seals? Or will the stock locators in my other heads not work properly with the dual .660 springs that I am about to install?

Just trying to save this guy from having to put seals in the heads if he doesn't have to.

It somewhat depends on whether you have actual locators (that locate the I.D. of the valve springs) or spring cups (those that contain the O.D. of the valve springs). While being close in dimension, but not actually touching (usually somewhere 0.100 clearance), the locator or cup keeps the spring in place. I know you know what it does, but giving this example sort of also explains that it is also partly governed by your spring selection (I.D. or O.D.) depending on which style you have installed. Typically speaking, a lot of the LS style springs are designed for drop-in fitment and as such most likely the locators or cups quite possibly will work just fine for the next gentleman down the road, however the inevitable but comes into play, things need to match up and measuring is the only answer. Another example would be were a typical locator would come in with an O.D. dimension of 0.505 and some of the typical dual valve-springs come in at an I.D. of 0.655-.667 and would usually use the same part number locators for that range of spring sizes, as some play is allowed, but beings the same springs having an O.D. of anywhere from 1.237-1.275 could possibly have some issues if you were to select the wrong spring cup due to the wide variety in outer dimensions.

Clear as mud?

Use the locators that go with the springs... Seals are cheap and easy to do if you have the heads in front of you.

Not going to loose 20% of the sale to be a big helper, but just try to save a buck when I can.
