Aluminum is actually more conductive than steel or cast iron. Unless of course it has a non-conductive coating applied to it such as certain anodizations or hard coatings, the heads probably don't have suck a coating on them but who knows.

Hop you get your truck issues fixed soon so you can enjoy your new powerplant!!

is your temp gauge hooked up? I unplugged mine once after it was started, and it killed the engine.

Security light flashing after it's running? I know that it keeps it from starting.

What about disconnecting the battery over night to let it reset itself?

A bad cell in your battery or bad connections would keep it from starting. Is your battery a sealed, or does it have caps? Any white/green funk on the connections? Make sure that your connections on the block are metal to metal . . . . no paint between the two.

I'm stumped

guessing it's something with the way that the trans is hooked up.
Does the gear selector match the indicator on the dash?

What about calling the guy that did the trans rebuild, pick is head about the neutral safety switch.

ya the gear selector matches the dash. i really dont know what it is. i think it may just be the starter going out or the relay. I know when i tried to start the truck for the first time, i had 2 of the wires on the starter barely touching so when i would put the negative terminal up to the battery then engine would start turning over without even having the key in. i wonder if doing this may have damaged the starter

i take it now that after the motor is started, it will stay running after
you placed the grounds on new locations?
but your now having an issue with the starter only?

take the starter to be tested, easy to do.
with the starter out and the help of a friend use a test light
on the starter connections.
make sure the hot wire and the block grounds make the test light
nice and bright.
used the same ground for the key wire, have your friend turn the key
and see if it lights up every time the key turned for the truck to start.
if it light up every time your good.
if it does not light up, start running down the wire until it does light up.
