Cam bearings q ?

Brass is normal on these blocks because the brass is not from the cam wear. GM line hones the block with the bearings in them. So thats what you are seeing. Unless the bearings are messed up and not in normal condition, dont change them.

Hmmm... I recently bought a 5.3 with a wiped out cam lobe and it's showing some Brass in the cam bearings. Seems like they're all worn in the same spot too. So they might be ok?

I've seen a lot of pics of brassy cam bearings on Tech, and when I did my cam swap at 37K my front bearing was kind of funky looking. Swapped the cam in and it's been 23K so far with no problems. When I bought my 27k LQ9 I noticed that the first cam bearing in that is showing a lot of brass too...from what I've seen and read here, I don't believe that it's a problem.

yes its normal. You will find all the blocks have the same look in all the same places. Its from them line honing with the bearings in the journal.
