Put the pushrods back in and spin the cam and get all the lifters stuck in the trays, then one by one push them back down onto the cam to check that all the lifters are there.

What method did you use for keeping the lifters there? Pen magnets? Dowels? JPR tool?

I tried that too and i spun the cam, pushed each pushrod down and one by one they all moved. I don't think a lifter fell down. I used wooden dowels. Now im leaning towards it being the crankshaft. Should i pull the oil pan out? If not i guess im going to have to pull the engine out

It has got to be something in the bottom end, as long as all the valves are closed and the timing gear is disconnected like you said.

Did you try pulling off the flywheel and turning it? Did you hit the motor on anything when you set it down into the truck? You would have to hit something pretty damn hard to bend that crank man.

Yea, now that you mentioned it, you'd be short one lifter and have a pushrod falling down into the crankcase if you dropped a lifter...

Too Long would be my guess? Don't see how torquing them would affect anything.

EDIT: IF to long would they seat into the bearing cap or something?

Haven't seen the back side of an LSX engine yet, but if they are too long they'd either do that or hit the block.

Put em back in and See if they hit anything.
