Default 2007 Tahoe 5.3ltr mod help please

Hello everyone, new to the site

I recently traded in my 02 silverado which was heavily modified (crane cam, edelbrock heads, ceramic long tube headers, full performance exhaust, etc.) for a 2007 tahoe because I now have a baby on the way and the wife wasn't keen on the idea of me carrying the kid around in a single cab truck.

Still in mourning...

Anyway, I've driven trucks and sports cars/muscle cars for as long as I can remember and this Tahoe feels like a tank so I'd really like to make this as aggressive as I can without swapping motors, etc. (so that I feel at home)

So far I've ordered a ground force lowering kit (mild 2/3 drop) and have already installed 2 in 2 out flowmaster muffler with dumps. I do plan to get a set of long tube headers and some performance cats.

I'd like to get some ideas on engine mods (best cam shaft, heads, etc.) I want this thing to haul groceries and diapers fast! Don't know what can be achieved with these newer motors.

I like a pretty good lope and enjoy making a statement with the vehicles I drive... you know, crank it up in a parking lot and see people's heads turn and think "whoa what was that?!" ...good times!

Any help anyone can provide is much appreciated

Also looking at programmers... any recommendations on those? There are several out there and also the option of a custom program

Doing a search and a little reading goes a LONG way, we answer this question 2-3 times a week.
No one is going to recommend a programmer over a custom tune. A tune is the best thing you can do to your vehicle and the only way to get it perfect is custom.

Yeah I've ran across a few threads regarding 07 tahoes, but the people asking for advice weren't looking for very aggressive mods from what I've seen, and a lot of the posts I've ran across were quite old and therefore I feel there's more up to date info out there (latest parts, etc.)

I'm still looking..

Everything you did to your 02 you can do to your 07. not much has changed except body style and a little programming.

As far as the BEST cam and Best heads go. That is entirely up to your goals.
The best heads IMO are going to be costly and come from our sponsor on the right West Coast Cylinder Heads.

cam is entirely up to wear you want power. so any thread you read that mentions a cam choice and explains how to pick one is going to apply to you as well.

You didn't mention forced induction, but it's pretty cost effective vs cam/heads. Keeps your drivability intact and keeps your fuel eco. Will stomp silly a whole bunch of heads/cam jobs and not need a higher stall converter to work right. I think the Trick Turbo setup and the Radix 112HH supercharger are both on sale right now. My son has the Trick setup and I have the Radix. Both quality products. Either one will move a Tahoe around right nicely. Wife can drive either one without even knowing it's there.....as long as she doesn't have a heavy right foot.

Right. FI and Lopey cam don't go together.

You'll want a low number lsa, but as far as duration, thats going to be on you. You'll want to check some of the cam threads and determine where you want your power band to fall. Being an SUV you don't want a huge cam without a stall.

I plan on swaping a small cam (torque cam), along with long tubes, tune, and a 100 shot in my 07 hoe. What style heads you have on your 5.3? Btw mine made 270whp and 290wtq with intake and muffler and no tune. Its quick for a tank lol

Not sure what style heads are on this 5.3... have only had the truck for two weeks

As for the loud redneck comment, lol

I don't go for the super load exhaust, you only hear the rumble at start up and then once it idles down you can't hear it at all. When you stomp on the throttle you can hear it of course, which is what I prefer.

I don't like the "wake the neighbors" type sound, just a low lopey rumble... but most importantly that it performs and is fun to drive.

Thanks for the input thus far guys... I do like the super charger idea.. and may very well look into that.
