$3000 to build a 6.0???

Short block looks good so far just needs a good cleaning. I'm doing bearings and rings while I'm in it.

can you build the engine yourself to save on labor? if so, forged rods, forged .030 flat top, mill the heads and spray the **** out of it....I overbuild though hahah. the expensive builds seem to break fastest too... stock bottom will take a 150 all day and give you years of service. realistically do a basic rebuild for around 1,500ish with a flat top piston and mill the heads for around 11.5ish compression. vic jr and a cam matched to the intake.
maybe 11.3ish compression. i'm at 11.7:1 and I have a little dieseling problem with the carb on 93 pump. I had a MAJOR diesel problem when I poured some 87 in the tank lol. hopefully I can fix it with some tuning (I have no clue what my afr or timing is at yet)
ls1tech has an entire section dedicated to carbureted builds. tons of info in there.

Yes I can do the work and I also have a good guy that builds for a living if I get stuck on something.
So looks like I need to go for a
370 11-1 compression
Going with the Vic jr
ls3 cnc heads
850 carb msd to control it
Thinking a plate kit with a 150 shot
Need to figure out a cam? Kinda holding off on this part till I figure out which truck is getting this engine.
I have a mid 80's regular cab that would be pretty cool if the f100 doesn't pan out.
