Help me pick a stall
Have a new flt tranny level 4 being built and wanting to install a stall while I'm in there my truck is an 05 ccsb z71 5.3 with Aem CAI, pacesetter long tubes, ORY, 212/218 low lift cam, 4.88s trutrac, leveled on 315-70-17 dynapro mts, zippy tuned I also have a Nx 150 shot for track fun occasionally
I'm going with a circle-d stall but can not decide between 2600-2800 or 3000-3200 I'm leaning toward the 3000 but I do tow occasionally I'll be towing a 18ft trailer and three atvs from mississippi out to colorado in September with two weeks worth of camping and hunting gear but normally just around here I tow my fishing boat or atv or miscellaneous junk no real long distance or steep grades like on this trip also I will be adding a tru-cool 40k as well will the 3000 be ok for this colorado drive ?

Tow those hilly areas in 3, and tune the truck to lock in 3rd gear. You will be able to go up inclines with it locked in 3rd gear no sweat. It will be fine. The problems will arise when you unlock for a long grade and its just producing a ton of heat for way too long.
I would go with the 3000. 2600 just isnt enough to get you to the meat of your tq curve in a 5.3. It will be better than stock for sure, but you will wish you had more power off the line almost immediately.

Thanks for the reply I plan to talk to zippy about a tune just for this trip when I get everything in i figure a retune will be necesary for not only the stall and trans but for octane as well since I run 93 here and that's not available out west also what will locking the torque convertor in 3 do for me just less heat I'm assuming ?
It's going to be my own ike gauntlet test ! Lol
