That's a pretty pricey guess and hope I like it. I think I'm gonna have to research more. Originally I wanted the locker and I'm still thinking that might be what I do

Buy what you think you want and what suits your driving habits.... and not what anyone tells you to buy on here including me. I am not you, and I have no idea what kind of differential action you prefer..... and neither does anyone else.

Basically my driving style is pretty mild. I drive obviously paved roads and only floor it from a dig once and a while. Sometimes I'll turn off traction control and do some burn outs and donuts. When it does snow here I do need to know if one tire is on ice that I'll be able to get moving. I'm not off roading or circle track racing or even going to the track really.
Future mods would include a stall and cam and other n/a mods so after that I'd imagine there'll be a lot more flooring it at the lights

I'm still slightly stuck on the fence. I've been seeing some threads on other forums that people's tru Tracs are breaking after like 10, 000km. The helical gears are stripping and leaving metal chunks in the fluid.
Has anyone else heard about this? Or seen it happening?

Well it's all in finally. Detroit locker. 4.11 richmond excel gears and install kit. Now I just gotta put it in.
I am curious though why Detroit doesn't want synthetic fluid used? It's actually not as easy to find non synthetic 75/90 as I thought and I already had some cause I used to it on my current diff

I've had an Eaton lsd in another diff and a auburn cone style posi that's what made me hate clutch pack diffs. It would constantly let go during a burn out or donut and I'd end up doing a 1 tire fire. So that's why I was like I want the gear locker.
What can you tell me about the tru trac?

ive got 95K+ miles on my Eaton LSD in my truck and ive never had an issue with it. And ive done some completely stupid stuff with it. heck ive even got proof,,,,driving award....

I've got a locker in my 69 chev truck. Can really tell its there during normal driving while turning. But damn that thing will pop into a donut quick. It's hard on back tires too. It's probably more the big motor tho.

I'll check the shelf again tomorrow. I didn't even look for a straight 90. I'll find the oil. Was just curious about it.
I'm also super glad my pinion head is stamped +0 so I don't Have to worry about adding or subtracting anything
