Check them out. Maybe they will be right. But everyone i know running the morel 5290s are running 030 preload. Just as you put the pushrods in watch the valve to make sure they arent opening at all.

well thanks for the heads up, I'll definitely pay very close attention to that
I just cant believe if its a known issue with his lifters and everyone runs 0.030" why wouldn't he suggest that?
I'm hoping for the best but it really wouldn't surprise me if they don't work and the trucks down for another 2 weeks due to holidays and shipping

Morel says 030 to 050. A lot of people even get away with a 025 which would seem to scare me but hey it is what it is. The issue with the 5290 is they are a short plunger unlike the other set i cant recall the number. The other set is a long plunger like an LS7 lifter.

My exhaust is 0 lash then 1/2 of a turn to bottomed out and tq'ed. Which should be 030 if my math is correct.

makes me wonder if I should just bite the bullet and order some 7.250" (0.025" preload) push rods off summit and pay for the fastest shipping possible just in case cause with x-mas and new years I cant have the truck tying up a bay at the shop for 3 weeks (total) cause of push rods

sorry to thread jack you by way!

No problem

You can move the truck with those other pushrods....you may just have a misfire like me

If it has to be pushed out of the bay then close the valve covers up and push it out. Then when the right size is determined push it back in

actually the funny part about that was originally I had planned to push it out but as I was finishing the heads the shop foreman said "so is this staying here till the push rods arrive" and thinking it was a trick question I said "no of course not, I'll push it outside" and that's when he said "I'm not pushing this thing in and out, you have another hoist, use that" but its the manager that hinted he wants it done within the week

I'm stuck on the fence now though cause if I place the order threw summit for some 7.250s they're 5/16 right? and I do the $60 fedex economy shipping they'd be here Friday
but your right about 0.025" preload seeming pretty low!

So you are looking at 210.00 for pushrods....ouch

I vote wait to make sure the 7.275s are either wrong or right.

No id need the 7.250" rods for a 0.025" preload or have some 7.255" rods custom made for 0.030" which I'm sure having some made arent cheap haha
