" Hood Open " - Switch gone bad
Posting up as info as I'm sure others will run into this
Changed oil tonight and once completed the dash alert "Hood Open" appeared. Upon diagnosis the switch itself was in pieces. Probably had something to do with age, the temp around zero, and closing the hood firmly.
I'll need to pick up a new one switch/latch assembly. I could not find a switch only offering only a switch with the latch system. I also determined that the remote start does not work when this switch thinks it is open (part of the anti theft I imagine).

if yes...short the purple one to the black one (threw the connector with something) and that should stop the hood open chime until you can replace it, I'd use a cotter pin and tape it in
the purple is your hood closed signal
pink/black is hood open signal
black is the ground
and depending on what position the switch is in...grounds a different wire

I took the plastic cladding off when I was diagnosing things. It does have three wires. From memory I thought they were black/yellow/blackW
Part is enroute --- in Warrendale PA at the moment so I guess it'll be here Monday

for anyone wanting to save a couple of bucks ,when the switch fails you can take it apart by grinding off the 3 little round bumps on the side and prying it apart. the problem is the printed circuit board has failed and you can just solder a wire across to jump the failed board . when done just glue the switch back together . you can fix it faster then the time it would take to order a new on . 10 min fix.
