Bitch all you want they'll tell you where to go and how to get there. A new motor will remedy the problem with no adverse effect on vehicle value or vehicle expected life. I'd be pissed too my wifes truck lost a 6.0 while under warranty in the exact same manner. Upon teardown it spun the center cam bearing.

Thanks for the encouraging words. Makes me feel much better. Im just going to be patient and let them take their time to make it right. Im not after a new truck.......mine is still new, so I think I'll leave the buyback deal alone unless I have problems down the road.

I would think that not having a numbers matching engine affects resale value..... That cant look good on a carfax report! The fact that your truck has only 6k miles on it seems to make it a perfect candidate for replacement in my opinion. Let GM take the loss on the truck and some dealership will have a really nice practically new truck to sell at almost full price. It would be different if your truck had 30k miles on it.....

My brother-in-law had a problem with his 09, it was losing oil pressure! They replaced a sensor and it fixed it! It was the gauge. They hooked it up and it was doing fine, just the sensor. Good luck on getting it fixed
I made the statement that it was the gauge, I apologize, it was in the ECM! But they still fixed it quick in about 2 days. Sorry for the screw up.

I had a similar problem with a 2011 5.3 bought back in January. 1500 miles camshaft and litters. 3000 miles, complete engine replacement. 6000 miles oil pump failure. GM would not do a buy back even after all this. The dealershipped stepped up and bought the truck back from me. This was my 8th truck from this dealer over the years. This is a problem with these AFM engines. Mine all stemmed from the lifter failure. Even on the subsequent engines. The engine oil cooler was found packed with debris from the original failure.
I think the word you are searching for is diminished value. An engine replacement at this mileage just killed the value of that truck! Ask any dealer what the trade is worth. Got to love carfax.

update:
9/9/11
The engine is disassembled. The mechanic said he has been completely unable to find anything wrong with the engine other than scarred bearings. Cam and lifters were spotless. The service manager said he talked to the GM rep today and he recommended the engine be rebuilt and installed back in the pickup. Im not down with this and Im looking for reasonable advice.....

I would push and fight for the dealership to buy it back or something. Like other mentioned that just killed the value of your truck. Hate to say it but get a layer maybe if it comes down to it?
