Was it smoking any? Oil pumps just dont die...

You may be able to talk them into a longer warranty if you ask nicely...

Wasnt smoking at all. Not one single symptom of a sick engine except less than 5psi oil pressure @ idle. Engine oil looked like I just poured it out of the Mobil1 bottle. No engine noise, ticking, knocking.....nothing. Oil pressure was normal during first 20 seconds after starting the engine but fell off immediately after that. I only started it briefly twice after the alarm went off signaling low OP.

My brother-in-law had a problem with his 09, it was losing oil pressure! They replaced a sensor and it fixed it! It was the gauge. They hooked it up and it was doing fine, just the sensor. Good luck on getting it fixed

I made the statement that it was the gauge, I apologize, it was in the ECM! But they still fixed it quick in about 2 days. Sorry for the screw up.

Yea I would check the gauge...lot easier than an engine swap. If you had no oil pressure you would see bearing material in the pan and filter very quickly and hear lots of bad sounds. Its a moot point now, but still...

a buddy of mine puts lift kits on for a local dealership and the other day he told me they brought him a 2011 silverado with only 46 miles on it to put a lift kit on it and he said he got in it to crank it and no oil pressure.he didn't say weither it was a 5.3 or 6.2.he called the dealership and told them and they came and got it with rollback.not sure what the problem was yet.i know there having lifter problems with them.lifter will bled down and when it sits for a day or 2 it will smoke bad when you first crank it.

Yea i agree if it really didnt have any oil pressure you should of at least heard the lifters not being pumped up making a racket. I test drove a truck off a dealer lot one time, lost oil pressure shortly after i left and the warning ding came on. Needless to say it put my cammed lifter noise to shame with the ticking/valvetrain noise the lifters were making..

From GM tech to you. Your truck will have a brand new GM service crate engine installed in it. It will not be a reman. You had a freak failure I understand it's aggarvating especially on a brand new 40K truck. I lost a 6.0 on my wifes truck last year in the exact same manner. It was taken care of and back on the road in less than a week. I wouldn't pursue buyback but that's my .02 you'll be good as new with your new engine.
