Default Converter with stock cam

Hi all, I have a 2008 Silverado 2WD extended cab 5.3 with 3.73's. I have a Blackbear tune with AFM delete and a Dynomax Ultraflow 3" single cat back.

I do not plan to change the camshaft or anything else. Truck runs waay better than it did stock and overall I am happy with it for my daily driving needs.

Would a 278mm 2600-2800 stall be a worthwhile addition? I rarely tow and when I do its just a bass boat for short distances.

Would it act like the stock converter under normal light throttle conditions?

Would I have to/need to have my transmission tune redone?

I am looking for a little more seat of the pants feel when you mash on it from a slow roll or stop.

Thanks
Lonnie

it would give it alittle extra kick... i would go with the 3-3200 though as the ls motors dont really start running till 3k... and those converters are pretty tight towing wont be a big deal. just make sure and get a good trans cooler to go with it.. and you will need to make a few tune adjustments

2600-2800 will fall short fast when you start to mod.

I dd a circle d 278mm 3200 with 3:42s and loved it! My 6.2 swap wouldnt 60' past a 1.84 but it'd really shine in a street roll

3000-3200 imho either a circle d 278mm or grab a yank TT3000 (DD just like stock)

I ran my Circle-D 245mm 4C (3700 rpm) On the stock cam for a little over a month. Its fine. But the cam really made it shine.

Thanks for all the feedback. As long as this converter behaves like stock under normal driving,i think i will try it.

What exactly would need to be tweeked on my tune to optimize the converter?

I have a yank tt3000 behind my 5.3 with a tr224 cam and it drives like stock, the converter that is. I wish I would have gone with a 3600-3800, but I already had this one laying around.

thats because you took a cam that doesnt start to shine until 3400+ and it doesnt help any that you are in such a heavy truck and mud tires. i bet that thing is fun to drive once you are at about 3500rpm and stomp it

i just wouldnt over stall something that doesnt even get used as a track truck, but i cant honestly tell you to under stall it. i wish GM would put a 3000-3200 in these trucks stock!

If your dead set on keeping the stock cam I would go with a min 2800 rpm torque converter in about a 275mm to keep the stock like lite driving.
have a look at this.

its an easy take off with my 245mm 4C 3700 rpm torque converter. Thats about 30% throttle to 40 then 50% to 50mph.
