it draws it from the passenger side tow hook opening. You have to remove the tow hook to install the scoop, but you can re-install it after the scoop is in place. You don't lose the funtionality of the tow hook, but it is in the way of the scoop.

I removed the tow hooks on my 99 with the Volant scoop, I imagine that the newer ones would be the same. The tow hook bolt helps secure it, but you don't need the tow hook. I put some large washers around the bolt to help distribute torque evenly, but that's not really necessary.
Here's a pic:
Here's the driver's side just for kicks...I made an ABS plastic plate to cover the wide open hole...

Not that I could tell really...I went from stock to a K&N FIPK that I used for 5 years, and didn't feel any real noticeable difference (except noise and an optimistic hope that I was getting at least a few extra HP to the rear wheels for the coin that I dropped). Then I went from the K&N to the Volant system with scoop, and it felt the same as the K&N to me. I like the closed system and scoop though as the fit and fitment on mine is great (although I read a thread where one guy's Volant air box wasn't properly drilled for the MAF sensor), I looks nice, and I feel like I'm utilizing a system that is theoretically the best technology available...FWIW (shrugging my shoulders as I type lol).
