Once I get a transmission back in my truck I can trust I'm going to try this out. I'll give each way three tanks of gas and average them out. Gonna be about two+ weeks or so before I have a trans back in it though.

I tried it this last week. 150 miles city driving, 80 on the highway and about 210 in the mountains. When driving in the mountains I past cars every chance I could. Testing out the STS. I managed 18.8 mpg. I do get just over 20 mpg on the highway. Nothing close to that in the city or in the mountains. Seem to work for me. Give it a try. It may convince you.

Give it a try. Any gain is something @ $2.40 a gallon for gas.

Where did you get this stuff again? I'm going to try my local Walgreens. Won't hurt to try...

You can get it at a paint store or probably any big hardware store like Lowes or Home Depot.

I bought a small bottle at Walgreens. I figured that if it worked I could go to the hardware store and get a 1 gallon container. It is used to remove fingernail polish. Just make sure it says 100% pure acetone.

Interesting. I'll test it out on my Tahoe. I put 100 miles a day on it commuting to work. I fill up at the same stations and always reset my odometer after a fill up. I usually see 350-360 miles per tank on my normal city/hwy driving. If I start seeing 380-400 miles on a tank, I'll call it a success.

If it works, I'll be giving cans of acetone out to family as christmas gifts

Now we're talking....a controlled experiment. Tex, if you do this I would trust the results. Are you able to use cruise control on your commute?

I'm not going to alter my driving one bit. I rarely use cruise. In the morning I've got about 35 miles of open freeway doing 75mph+, then 10+ miles in traffic. In the evening, its just reversed. I'm not easy on the throttle normally and won't take it easy now to get better mileage. I'm just going to continue on like normal.

My tahoe is a company vehicle, so I keep mileage for every fillup. It will be easy to chart the difference. I just hope I remember to add acetone to each fueling. If something goes wrong, well, its not really my car. I don't see how 5oz per fillup will hurt anything though.

Well that's just as good as cruise control. Looking forward to the results from some sustained testing.
