Default oil pump o-ring, can it be changed in the truck (5.3L 4x4)

my 05 model eclb has low oil pressure at idle, and if the front end is higher than the rear, it drops to almost 0 oil pressure, i run an extra quart of oil to help this alittle, otherwise the lifters start clattering when the front is higher than the rear (up steep hills) truck has 270k miles on the 5.3L and it runs great other than the oil pressure issue, i dont want to remove the engine if i dont have to, but i will if its necessary, truck is a 4x4 and ill probably install a new oil pump along with the o-ring just for good measure.

any help is appreciated.

I changed mines when I did my cam with motor in the tthatruck, just had to lower the oil pan to got to the 2 bolts on the pick up tube, just loosen them up and finish them with your fingers so they won't fall to the oil pan.

You can do it with the engine in the truck and the axle still bolted up. Just gotta drop the pan down then jam the front end of it with a wrench or something while you work. It's pretty time consuming (Skill Level B, 5.2 Hours) so I recommend lots of patience.

when I did my cam swap I had to remove the oil pump to replace the timing chain. I couldn't get the oil pump oring all the way seated. I'm AWD, and I had to drop the front diff in order to get the oil pan off. I removed the pick-up tube. Made it alot easier to replace the oring. I removed the trans xmember, unbolted the 3 bolts on the diff, and used a floor jack to lower the diff. Wanst too bad. About a days job if its your first time. A Haynes manual is a very helpful tool.

Especially the hood latch trying to eviscerate you as you flop over the radiator support.

I got my oil pan off in the truck. I took the motor mounts loose, picked up the motor with an engine hoist. It came right out towards the back, and took about 1 1/2 -2 hours to get out drill/tap hole, and re-install, if I remember correctly. Did it to do the turbo drain line.
