Keep it civil this time or this one disappears too.
My thoughts on the subject. The 5.3L is more powerful. I don't have ANY traction problems on a good road with my lightly modded 5.3L. If two trucks that were identical except one had a 4.8 and the other had a 5.3L went against each other it's my opinion(I've never raced a 4.8) that the 5.3L would win. Now, once you start talking about different transmissions and mods ALL bets are off.
KEEP IT CIVIL.

My Opinion: The whole idea that torque is a bad thing is stupid. (originally posted my Thunder 2K1 in the old post) I'd gladly take another couple hundred foot pounds of torque. Every one on this site would too. The funny thing about that statement is that horsepower is a calculated number derived from torque and rpms. So if you have no torque, you have no horsepower. The longer you can stretch out your torque curve, the more calculated horsepower you'll have.

So lets turn the tables. Wouldn't a 6.0 be more powerful than a 5.3. It is all relative. Cubes are cubes, and horsepower is horsepower. In general, it is the reason why you won't see a stock n/a Mustang take a stock n/a Camaro, not including the weight factor. Just my .02

Its all about the most area under the HP curve. Displacement is a good thing. In identical trucks with the same weight, the 4.8L will always lose to its slightly bigger brother. Start modifying either, and all bets are off.
Too much torque? Is there such a thing? Thats pretty funny, most of these trucks can't even spin the tires unless the road has sand on it or its wet outside
