Default Looking at an '06 1500, anything to watch for?

Like the title says...

Im looking at possibly buying an '06 1500 Z71 CCSB with the 5.3L. I know it should be pretty close to the same as my truck now but just figured I'd ask what to check/watch out for on it. I'm looking at 03-07 classics, is there anything in general that's different from my '00?

Thanks for the help

Obviously, Check fluids. If burn't or darker than normal stay away.

Look for leaks. My 00 never had a leak and I just sold it 2 weeks ago.

If possible ask for service records. No one ever service the diffs or transfer cases and those are not easy to check the fluids on. Also verify the function of the transfer case.

Check the windows and door locks. If it is a Bose truck, make sure the amp works by turning the volume up. If the amp is dead it will only seem like its mid volume when turned all the way up. Check the head lamp switch and all its functions, make sure anything electrical works.

Check AC function.

The 03 up could have steering wheel controls. Make sure all the buttons light up as well as the AC control if it is manual the bulbs often burn out on these.

Check the cluster. Make sure all gauges look to be functioning normally Don't assume something not working is just a sensor, The Sweeper motors go bad on these cluster and have to be replaced.

Any thing not working, use as a tactic to negotiate lower price if you really like the truck.

Probably going to have 3.42 gears instead of 3.73s.

The dealer doesn't have pictures yet but here's the listing.

Cars for Sale: 2006 Chevrolet Silverado and other C/K1500 LT in Warrenton, VA 20186: Truck Details - 408443379 - Autotrader

I was able to swing by real quick during my lunch break but it was raining so I didnt get a chance to really look at it. Seems pretty nice with only 2 minor blemishes. They have it listed for $15k with just under 117k miles. It's only a 2 owner truck from what the Auto Check shows. And it's been local to my hometown it's whole life.

And here is the VIN decoded.

Depends on the package. My 06 with the 5.3L has 3:73's while my 00 had 3:42's and it was also 3:42's

All the 04-06 extended cab 2wd parts trucks I have purchased have had 3:73's

They could have 3:23's 3:42's or 3:73's usually only a 4x4 would have 4:10's while a crew cab would probably have the 3:23's

My buddies 06 extended cab with a 4.8 had 3:42's. Just depends on how it was ordered.

the listing says 3.42s but i dont trust the listing. I need to check the glove box axle code. Im guessing since it has the HD trailer package it should have the 3.73s like my truck now does. Gonna try to check it out again sometime in the next couple days. Hopefully I can talk them down to a private party price if it gets that far.

No worries, The Dome override on my head lamp switch stopped working about a month ago. I have since replaced it.

Also the MAF had to be replaced as I kept getting rich codes. Mine Is also An L59 Flex Fuel.

I would bet it's 3:73 with the 4x4 option. The Glove box will know for sure.
