My 05 z71 crew cab has 3.42s in it.

 

Check the cab corners and rockers for rust.

Check the bottoms of all the doors for rust.

Even if your area does not get much salt on the roads, its worth checking, the truck could always come from the northeast or some other salty state.

Make sure the A/C blows cold and the heat blows hot. AND THAT BOTH SIDES BLOW THE SAME TEMPERATURE!!

That's all I've got for now. Everything else seems to be covered.

 

I got a chance to check it out again today. Paint is what I expected it to be for almost 10 years old. Needs a nice buff/wax job. No serious scratches or dents. No signs of rust that I could see. Cab corners and rockers seemed solid. Has about a 1 1/2" tear in the seem of the leather on the driver's seat. Everything else seems pretty good from the outside. Its bone stock too which is nice.

 

You can buy replacement leather seat covers on ebay.

I would use anything you can to your advantage when negotiating the price.

Remember the longer it sits on there lot, the less money they make. They need to turn over inventory to maximize their profits.

 

3.42s are pretty common for the 04-06 ccsb trucks, so I wouldnt rule them out of the equation. If you'd like I could run the trucks VIN in GM's VIS and get the factory build sheet.

 

It's actually the 05-07 classics. I tune trucks daily so I get to see a lot of them on a regular basis. The majority of 05-07 classics I see with 4.8s and 5.3s 2wd have 3.23s and 4wd have 3.42s. I'm not saying all, but way more do than don't.

 

Oh good point. I guess being from MN we pretty much only saw 4x4 trucks so that makes sense. I didnt realize 3.23s were that common for 2x4 trucks.
