Default Helicoil a sparkplug hole?

Should I? When I put my headers on I noticed my front spark plug didnt look like the others and it was just forced in and stripped and I tried and tried but couldnt get it to go it correctly. now I have a bad ticking/leak and I opened the hood today and the spark plug and wire were shaking and it had worked its way out alot and was real loose? has anyone had this problem? and where should I get a helicoil kit and what size? thanks

I had a similar issue with my spark plugs in some new heads. You should search my name for the threads. I was recommended by a few professionals and people on here not to because the aluminum doesn't bind as well with the helicoil and the high pressure in the cylinder heads could lead to more problems.

80 dollars is a lot cheaper than a new head.

I had the same problem with my truck. I bought a kit made by Helicoil at the local parts store. It came with a special tap and 3 sleeves of different lengths. I put in the longest one (it matched the plug) and haven't had a problem. It's been that way for a couple of years now. I wouldn't run one on a performance engine though. I don't remember the cost but it was a lot cheaper than $80. If you have the time and money I would get a good used head and replace it. http://www.globalspec.com/FeaturedPr..._x_125/23773/0
