Default Two questions...

First: I hear the 4.8 will not accept cams form the LS1, is this true?

2nd, I'm having an odd problem, A couple of days ago there was a small puddle of Dex Cool under the very very front of the truck, so the next day I parked in a different spot and got the same thing, I checked where I parked at work and saw nothing, and it didn't leak any last night, WTF? I looked underneath it but I didn't see anything wet under there.. any ideas?

Why wouldn't a LS1 based cam work in a 4.8? The only diff between that and a 5.3 is the crank and rods. Many guys have done cams in the 5.3. I'm getting close to putting in a rather large cam in my 4.8

The other problem, I will do a little digging on. I have heard of it before, but will have to find where I saw it.

Well that's why I asked on the cam, I said I'd "heard" it so I was checking on it Thanks on the other problem, that one worries me a bit, I don't think it's the water pump, it was completely dry, I'm thinking it may have been either a hose, or maybe like a pressure bleeder somewhere...

Physically it's the same thing. No problem there. The thing is the factory car cam kills all the torque below about 3500 rpm in the truck and makes it run like a slug. The after market cams do a lot better job, just don't go much over 220 duration in the 4.8. As far as lift, the more the better, but you'll need to upgrade the valve springs if you go much higher than 500.

Actually, I never really plan on putting a cam in here, I was just asking, this is my tow vehicle/daily driver so I'll do what I can to free up some HP, like a cold air intake and headers & exhaust, but it will stop there because I've got my Z28 to pull on the trailer

I had just heard something that the 4.8's wouldn't accept the same cam, and I was checking on it, I personally thought the blocks outer dimensions were all the same, and it looks to be confirmed here, thanks guys!

greg is going with the hammer cam (224/224 forgot lift)) i believe, but I may be wrong.

i heard this rumor that there is a nice cam sitting on the kitchen table of another 4.8L owner. not that big tho, his heads (read: *****) aren't good enough to support that
